What says "oooo, ooooo"?

Yesterday was my husband’s 33rd birthday. For the next 7 months, we are the same age. He chose a favorite meal of mine for dinner (maple-glazed pork tenderloin) and cookie bars instead of cake.  Somehow, our birthdays are never a VERY BIG DEAL around these parts. It’s hard to get crazy about 33. Still, it was a lovely meal and we had lovely company and (I hope) he had a lovely day.

Here are the cookie bars.

And some pictures of us enjoying them.

Pictures of Ry opening his birthday gifts:

Bear’s favorite joke these days goes like this:
What says “ooo, ooo”?
A cow with no lips!
My stepdad got so tickled by this joke that he laughed for a good 5 minutes the other night at dinner. So last night, Ry got a very special birthday card:

And what’s your favorite joke these days?

Easter. Paperclip.

Easter was mostly uneventful for us. On Saturday, we all dyed eggs.

And ate ice cream. The Monkey was not a fan of having his face cleaned.

And then on Easter morning, I stayed up after my shift and made it to (most of) our 8:30 Easter service. We came home to find (!!!) the Easter Bunny had come! Hurray!

The boys had lots of fun finding all their eggs. Is it just me, or do my baby boys look huge in these pictures?

And then they opened and enjoyed spoils.

I went to bed around 1030, since I had to be at work at 7 pm on Easter night. Imagine my surprise when I got a phone call from Ry (my first ever at work) around 10 pm. I found out that the Monkey swallowed a paperclip and they had just gotten back from the ER. Wow. Turns out, most paperclips swallowed simply become paperclips passed and we just had to wait.

The lab report was funny. It was all "medical jargon, blah blah blah. Yep, it looks like a paperclip."

Thankfully, the wait was a short 22 hours. We have pictures of the retrieval (yes really), which I will spare the rest of you from. This brings the tally to Monkey: 3, Bear: 0 for trips to the ER. Funny, if you asked me 2 years ago, I would have bet on the other way around.

As an aside, I work with a pretty great nurse. When she found out from one of the aides that I was on the phone with my husband, she started getting things together to get report from me and shuffle me out the door. It's nice to know that people have your back.
