Because I'll be a graduate nurse on May 23.
We had a session today about graduation requirements and licensing/testing/fees that made this whole "I'm going to be a nurse" thing very real. For whatever absurd reason, I'm much prouder of this associate's degree than either my bachelor's or master's. Maybe it's because I'm so much more excited about the resulting career. Maybe it's because I've given up so much time and energy to this one. Maybe it's because I never thought I had science brain and this is some small validation of my ability to understand things that are hard.
Hurrah! Four short months.

I felt the same way. I was so proud to become a nurse and felt like I had worked SO MUCH HARDER to get there than the meager effort I put towards my BS, and that hard work paid off. Nursing school is brutal.
Wooohooo, congrats! Is it also just a bit sad that the bachelors came so long ago that any perspective on it seems a bit lost? (though I'm completely with you that for the most part, minimal effort was put into it.....) *tiny violin playing for me...*
I am sure that part of it is that I finished my bachelor's 11 years ago. I also picked my major because I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life and it was something I was pretty good at.
I do remember how hard my master's kicked my tail. In absolute effort expended, I probably did more in my master's program. In life-balance effort, nursing school was something else entirely. Plus, I'm just so excited that I think I have a very different perspective on this degree.
Lol - speaking of picking a major because you don't know what you want to do with your life, never forget that I have my BA in Philosophy :)
