Dear God, thank you for the monkey lamp
Ahhh. Here's the now infamous monkey lamp. Isn't it a beauty? I believe he's doing some version of The Thinker pose. And he's wearing a suit. I still have a hard time believing that I let my almost 3 year-old talk me into this monstrosity. Someone, somewhere made some money conceiving of, constructing, shipping and selling it ... so there's that. And then last night, T opened his prayers with this, "Dear God, thank you for the monkey lamp."

Ah, the faith of a child. I remember Ry and I looking for one of his toys. We finally stopped to pray and as soon as we said "amen", I saw the toy out of the corner of my eye. True story.
This begs two questions: one, where was he that he spots said lamp and two; what reasoning did he use that you could not overcome?
We were actually at K-Mart. We saw something in the circular we wanted to check out. It's probably the first time we've been into a K-Mart in over 6 months.
The reasoning wasn't great, if I'm being honest. Mostly, "I want the monkey lamp, mommy!" I could have said no, of course, but then I figured that you only got to pick your own hideous monkey lamp when you're a kid. I'll send it to college with him.
As an aside, he also told me that the monkey lamp told him that Papa was going to the hospital yesterday. Turns out it was Ry, but that would've been a really great story.
Why did Ryan go to the hospital. And, don't try to push it on T, you know you wanted the monkey lamp
T was a bit more persuasive than that. He was very excited and would say things like, "Wow! A Monkey Lamp!" and "Mommy, you like the monkey lamp?? You Like The Monkey Lamp??" waiting in anticipation for her to profess her admiration.
Also, I remember dad's story vividly. The lost toy was a gray fighter jet Go-Bot, a transformers knock-off. It was one of my favorite toys. We prayed and the toy immediately presented itself.
Cathy -- Ry wasn't in the hospital. T calls my dad Papa. He's back in the hospital for his cancer treatment.
Oh, I just read that sentence wrong, the "turns out is was Ry" meant Ryan told him Papa was in the hospital, not ry in the hospital! Geesh
